A wish for truth

I wanted
To go beyond the veil of appearance
And see the truth.
I wanted
To go beyond the veil of illusion
And love. 

My wish gave me strength.
Then I saw the only strength I have
Is the understanding
That belongs to the conscience.
No one can take it away from me anymore
Not even the dark parts of me.
In this mutual belonging
I will no longer deny myself.
